MT RUSHMORE

Monday – June 13^th

We left Alliance NE and arrived at the much anticipated Mt. Rushmore.  All my life I had dreamed of seeing this mountain.  It was breath taking.  The heads of President Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt were the heads that the sculptor chose to carve. Their heads were 60 ft high and the nose was 20 ft.  The sculptor of Mt. Rushmore, Gutzon Borglum also started carving the sculptures on Stone Mountain until he got fired.      This was our most exciting day on our trip!!  Oh, South Dakota is a beautiful state!
