LAKE LOUISE, CANADIAN ROCKIES....WHAT BEAUTY!!!

LAKE LOUISE, CANADIAN ROCKIES....WHAT BEAUTY!!!

Tues. - June 22, 2011
We left Okotoks, Canada around noon after stopping at Wal-Mar,t stocking up and getting on Internet at McDonalds.  We headed to Calgary for the Pudding Yarn Shop.  It was right in the middle of downtown Calgary.  Boyd was stressed driving in the traffic.  What a great shop with neat yarn.  I tried to rush since Boyd was in our vehicle with the motor running.   It was good to head up the mountain toward the beautiful Canadian Rockies.  We were once again in awe of the handiwork of our creator.  w
We entered the town of Banff, which is 4540 ft above sea level.  It is Canada's highest town.  We then went on to Banff National Park and a dream come true was to go to the famous and breath taking Lake Louise.   Mountain Guide Tom Wilson, discovered what Natives called "Lake of Little Fishes" in 1882.  Later he named this mountain and glacier-framed beauty Lake Louise, after Queen Victoria's daugher.   It was as beautiful as people had described.  There was an enormous Chateau over looking the lake.  Only the wealthy can stay there.
We left Lake Louise and drove into Jasper National Park.  We went for many miles hoping to see wild life along the way.  Every mountain was spectacular.  The only wild life we saw was a mouse and a buzzard and finally a bull horn mountain goat and baby crossed in front of us.  We drove for many miles over steep terrain  looking for a camp ground.  Getting closer to the town of Jasper we saw several Elk and a camp ground with water and electric.   It was 10:30 PM and we were bone tired.  It gets dark around 11:30 in this part of Canada.  Hard to get used to.
ON TO ANOTHER ADVENTURE!!!
