July 11 we traveled to Haines, AK and then went on to Skagway, where we stayed for three days. Skagway is a cruise port where the ships come in. We went to a pioneer show that was based on the life of Soapy (Jeff) Smith, during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897 AND 1898. Soapy Smith was a con artist and most of the town were either fooled by him or hated him. While his men did the dirty work, Soapy tried to establish himself as a solid citizen of Skagway. Soapy was killed in a gun fight when he was 38years old by a city surveyor named Frank Reid. During the show they brought Boyd up on stage and he had to sit with the saloon girls and go upstairs with them. They brought him back down dressed in an old time gown and night hat. It was hilarious and I did not have my camera. A lady in the audience took some pictures and will be mailing them. The town was neat. We visited the town cemetary. It reminded you of a grave yard in a halloween movie...spooky.......and a beautiful water fall was a short hike away.

Go to my facebook page for more down loaded pictures.... we are on our way to Hyden, Alaska to see bear catch salmon. Yesterday was great for seeing the wild life. It had been a while since we had seen any. We will be out of Alaska in a few days and headed home a different route.

I will keep you posted. More later!!!!!
